San Jacinto Memorial Green at HCC Central Campus
Honoring the San Jacinto High School Alumni Association
We’re planting the seeds for the new San Jacinto Memorial Green!
The new San Jacinto Memorial Green will be reflective of the original front area of the historic San Jacinto High School. The trees on the west side of the campus will balance the glass Learning Hub building on the east side of the campus and provide a welcoming green space for HCC students and visitors. The surrounding trees and benches provide naming opportunities for our alumni to honor those they wish.
The San Jacinto Memorial Building, the nearly 100-year-old neo-classical and Art Deco masterwork on the campus of Houston Community College’s Central College, now joins the list of buildings on the National Register of Historic Places. As the centerpiece of HCC Central’s campus, the San Jacinto building is part of a larger, college-wide renovation of the campus and surrounding streets. Classes are expected to resume in the facility in November 2013.
You can help support this important piece of Houston history! All contributions are welcome to help bring the San Jacinto Memorial Green to life and to preserve the history of the San Jacinto High School for future generations.
