Applicant Requirements

To be considered for the Opportunity 14 Scholarship, students must

• qualify for the scholarship within one year of high school graduation. (Students who complete their GED and sign up for HCC classes before their 20th birthday also are eligible to receive O14 funds.)
• complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) or the state of Texas financial aid application and qualify for federal/state financial aid, with the Opportunity 14 Scholarship being supplemental to all other awards made.
• apply to HCC and enroll in a minimum of 9 semester credit hours at HCC.
• have resided within the HCC service area for at least one year.

To continue receiving the scholarship, students must maintain a 2.0 grade point average, update their FAFSA annually, and continue taking at least 9 semester credit hours.
